Default Hurting ANet Back (Regarding recent bannings)

Like 3,669 other GW players, I lost my account in the mass banning on the 26th of May. I had played the game for 56 months of which I botted in in RA, HA, and during the Christmas event for a total of perhaps 1~2 weeks.

Now, I'm not here to justify my actions; I deserved to be punished. I was always aware that botting carried a risk, even if I had no intentions of resuming after testing out its possibilities.

I would have just moved on had the matter ended here, but as I'm sure some of you agree, the way in which ANet went about this whole deal is completely unacceptable. Luring in people who would have never tried botting had it not been for ANet's seemingly "we-don't-give-a-shit-about-this-game-anymore" attitude, the complete indifference displayed when trying to contact support, and the lack of technical information released to the public regarding what the bans were even based on.

In fact, I see problems linked to the fact that this game is a one-time payment. This thing would have never happened in WoW seeing as terminating 3,700 active account would severely cut their own income. Only as a publicity stunt would something like that be attempted. ANet is showing complete indifference to their users because they already got their money. Active users simply take up server resources. No need for those.

NOW TO THE POINT, I've never been one to take a punch and walk away. I will attempt to hurt ANet's income just like they took my money. How am I going to hurt a big organization's income, you ask? Through commercializing. How? YouTube.

I have a YouTube video, in the gaming category, that receives, on average, 6,000 views EVERY DAY. At the time of writing this, the video has a total of 2,028,151 views. That's more than 2 million views for you.

I'll demote ANet and their products in this video through annotations in the video area, I'm thinking Guild Wars 2 especially, for as long as my GW-ban last. That would be forever.

I'm no good at marketing, but a commercial in the perfect medium with 6,000 views every day must SURELY mean something. I would estimate I'd hurt ANet for about 50,000 dollars if the video stays up for a yew years. Maybe more. Sound fine with me.

Discuss.

Sigh, You are actually trying to make it seem like you were the good guy?

So you are saying that your mad because anet had that attitude about how they don't care if you bot. MAYBE YOU SHOULD READ THE TOS. Just because others are doing it and not getting caught doesn't mean you should do it then when you get caught complain and bitch about getting caught. That just makes you seem retarded.

On a side note. I don't give a crap what video you have on youtube and I am sure anet doesn't give a rats ass either.

By the way maybe you should read this article on blizzards banning of 30,000 accounts.
http://arstechnica.com/old/content/2006/06/7033.ars\

In keeping with Blizzard's aggressive stance against cheating in World of Warcraft, we banned over 30,000 accounts in the month of May, and with that removed well over 30 million gold from the economy across all realms. The banned accounts were taking part in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use, including using third-party programs to farm gold and items, which severely impacts the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

Thank You
Miss Melday

I think you may be asking for a lot of trouble. Depending on how you demote them, you may be putting yourself at risk for reprisals.
I would say try to resolve it through the Better Business Bureau. http://austin.app.bbb.org
If that fails, find an enterprising young lawyer to file a class action lawsuit.
